Busy busy..

Well first things first- the Alamo is complete and delivered to it's owner. She loved it!

I have been working more on my other projects- I did a weekend project-

Made some progress on my LK sampler-
And been plugging away at my (mostly) "lunchtime project."

Kona and Ginger did both get fixed- they healed well. :) Kona messes with his stitches quite a bit so he had to wear the Cone of Shame. This is actually the first one- he managed to get around this one so we had to get a taller one.
Ginger was a good sister though and still helped by washing his face and ears.

Kona experienced his first snow the other day- he enjoyed it, even though he doesn't look like it in this picture.
We are supposed to get some more tonight-several inches- we'll see what happens.

On Tuesday I had a snow day home with the kids-I decided to try my hand at making some liquid soap using bar soap. It was super easy and made a ton. It was a little slimy 'cause I used a Dial glycerin bar. Next time I think I will use Yardley lavender soap. I love that stuff! We had some Ball jars so I got pumps  and made them into soap dispensers.
There are some other recipes on Pinterest for lotion and stretch mark cream. I may try those at some point too!  I recently bought some homemade sugar scrub at a local store and I just love it. It kind of inspired me!

Oh, I almost forgot- I have finally started putting beads on thi project too! I have had it stitched forever.
Sorry the photo isn't that good.

Well that's about it here.. Will post again soon!

Hellloooo!

Yes, it's me! I'm still here.  I have been working more on the Alamo and I am happy to say I am very close to finishing! Only have the backstitching left to do- and a couple of stitches I have found that I missed.
I have also been working on a winter freebie that I started some time ago- I thought I took a picture of it but I can't find it!
A facebook stitching group I'm in has WIP Wednesdays- so on Wednesday I put a (very) few stitches in this-
I don't remember what I was doing/watching while working on it but got distracted, so I didn't get very far.

I have been doing lots of reading lately- came across this great app called Scribd! There are a ton of books on there and I got a three month free trial. After the trial is up, it is only 8.99 a month I believe.  It is very worth it because there are so many books available on it, and I am the type of person that has so many books that I want to read, I try to buy books used or cheap and get rid of them once I've read them. (With the exception of classics and a few books that I really really love.) So this app is going to save me a ton of money.   I said I was always going to be a paperback girl but now I have finally ventured into the world of e-books. It's not so bad after all.  DH got me an iPad mini for Christmas, so now I can have books with me wherever I go, and it's a bit more compact!

I am still getting the ipsy bags- I love them! It's like giving myself a present every month. And if there is something in it I don't like, usually my daughter does. ☺ This was my bag this month-
This month was a full size eyeliner, a full size lip balm, a full size eyeshadow, a tube of pink shimmer cream(I use it as a light blush), and a sample with multiple uses of daily moisturizer.  Not bad for $10+ tax.  If you're interested please click here to sign up. ☺ You also can get points on your account for sharing your bag on facebook or going to the site and leaving feedback on the products in your bag. The points can be cashed in for extra products. ☺☺

I did something new this year- I started a happiness jar.  Has anyone heard of it? I saw it via a facebook post.  You get a jar and every day on a little slip of paper write something that made you happy that day, even if it's just a little thing.  Then at the end of the year go back and read all the things that made you happy. ♥  I confess I have been slacking a little bit the last week or so. I keep forgetting about it. I put it on my night stand now so at the end of the day I will remember to do it.

Please pray for my furbabies next Friday- they are both getting fixed.  They have been having a little aggression toward each other and we are hoping it will help.  Overall they still get along really well, but have occasionally been having fights- real ones where they actually draw blood!   I have gotten some advice from friends with multiple dogs and other Corgi owners as well and several said to fix them.  We did not plan on breeding them anyway so it needed to be done and done soon.  Much as I would love a bunch of little Corgi babies running around, I do not have any dog breeding experience.  And I would probably want to keep them all. ♥ I can't afford that!

I have been loving my drives home lately- this is the time of year that the sun is setting as I drive home so I see many beautiful skies!  Here are a couple-

DH went to a fishing expo a few weekends ago- while he was there he saw a man selling hedgehogs and send me this picture-
Look at that cutie! I have wanted a hedgehog for a long time.  I thought maybe he was going to buy me one- but alas- when he went to find out how much they were the man was gone. :( Oh well, maybe next year? hee hee..

Well... that's the latest!   I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and new year! We had a very nice one- my mother-in-law was visiting and we had a great time.

I will sign off with my sweeties- they were wanting my Life cereal when I took this.
Not the best photo because of course they both moved!

a finished finish!

I can now show you the gift I made for my friend Melissa for her birthday- I stitched this up last week and put it together today.  Here is a close-up or two and a picture of the birthday girl- hope she doesn't mind me posting it! :) (or her mom, as she took the picture!)

She thought it was really neat!

This n' That

Hello everyone- I have been remiss in posting again and I apologize. In my defense I did try to post from my cell phone the other day but it wouldn't go thru. I used to be able to post from my phone with no problem, now all of a sudden it isn't working.
I don't believe I've posted my progress on "Jane Austen on the Weather" ever- I picked this because it's been sooooo hot this summer, and ironically I may not even finish it before the cooler weather hits. But I am sure here in NC it will be hot next summer too. I changed the colors on this one-sorry it's a bit blurry- I took it with my phone at work. lol

I sent the kids of to school the past couple of weeks-David started kindergarten(sniff sniff) this past Monday and Hanna started on the 25th.  And I always take pics of the first day of school so here they are-

I also framed LK's "Count Your Blessings" and gave it to my friend Holly. This is the frame I originally used for my flip-its but I will just have Dad make me another one. :)

I have currently put my other projects on hold to work on something for someone- can't post pictures cause she might see it. :) but I will once it is given.
I am also going to be listing a ton of old stitching mags and leaflets on ebay in the next day or so. I started today but didn't get very far- I have listed a few Cross Country Stitching magazines from earlier in the decade. I plan on doing the rest tomorrow, before ebay's 'free listing' promo is done. lol My ebay ID is hannasmom1198- I may have a link in my sidebar- I don't remember!
Well that's about it here- please don't give up on me, I will really make an effort to post more often. Thanks for reading!

First finish of 2010!

LK December Flip-It Blocks are finished. Now I have completed the whole series. It only took I don't know how many years. lol I stitched on unknown linen with all the recommended friends except I used WDW Whitewash instead of Snowflake (didn't have any Snowflake), and I used Confetti instead of Louisiana Hot Sauce on the Christmas tree.  And I am pretty sure I didn't use any Aztec Red, only Louisiana Hot Sauce on the other red parts. The symbols were similar- one was / and one was \, and I realized today I don't think I used two different reds on this. OH well.. lol My bird charm swung a little to the right when I laid the piece down- it's not really that crooked. :0)  OK now off for a little stitching on my SAL!  If you like Precious Moments don't forget to check out my giveaway in the post below!! Comment for the giveaway ONLY on that post! Thanks!

Who'da thunkit?

LOL! You know that headache I had for a week?  Well all it took to cure it was a night out with my hubby and a margarita and a half at Chili's. hee hee..  Rob surprised me Friday by finding some friends to watch the kids and taking me out to Chili's for dinner!  It was delicious and so nice to relax.  And as mentioned above, the margaritas did the trick! Weird huh? Mind you, alchoholic beverages are not going to become my headache medicine. ;-)

And here is my progress pic on my LK flip-its- not as far as I thought I would get but after Hanna goes to bed I've been working on her Christmas present- once I make some progress I will post it here as she doesn't read my blog, unless it's over my shoulder once in a while as I'm typing.

I am going to be listing a couple of items on ebay if anyone is interested-  the pattern and leftover threads from Bent Creek's Blackbird House zipper-
and a cross stitch mousepad kit- it has been opened but all the original items are in there. My ebay ID is hannasmom1198. :)
And last but not least, here is a picture of some trees near our townhouse- sorry the pic is not of the full trees but I didn't want the neighbors' vehicles in the photo.

I really wanted to wait til the middle tree had turned also, but I was afraid the leaves would be off of the other two by then!

Halloween pics, a gift, a finish, and an ebay win!

Well, back to reality!  Mom and Dad's visit was great but much too short!!  We had a great time as always!  I did happen to get a little stitching time in the evenings as we watched movies, and finished my L*K flip-it!   (***OOPS!*** Not quite finished- realized last night I forgot the border.  Am going to LQS to get some WDW Snowflake today! LOL)

Mom went with me to take the kids trick-or treating-And on Friday I received this beautiful giftie for my birthday from Sharlotte!

 A great weekend!
And today I won a pattern on ebay that I've been wanting- the Celtic Band Sampler by Homespun Samplar. I love this design! I meant to get a whole lot of pics with my parents this weekend, but again I failed.  I guess it's cause we just hung around town and did some shopping and went to Starbucks mostly! We did go to Raleigh for a bit on Sunday, but just to church and to grab a bite.. went on a disappointing trip to find a LNS that I had heard of - but evidently I had heard of it a lonnnnng time ago cause it was no longer there, and the neighbor had never remembered and LNS being there. Any of my NC blogging friends remember You Count w/ Freda in Cary?  I had never been there- I guess I waited too long to check it out! Oh well!
I guess I better go get some stitching done!

I Love Candy Canes finished!!

I finally finished I Love Candy Canes. Woo hoo! This was an easy piece but for some reason it took me forever to finish- I guess cause I was only working on it one day a week, and it was on the night I usually have zumba class. lol
I don't think I posted this yet either- I actually finished this several years ago but never framed it- I found a frame my dad had made me - for what I don't remember- but it fit my L*K Autumn Cottage Boxer perfectly! So I framed it a weekend or two ago.
My birthday was ok, nothing super spectacular, but got lots of well wishes from friends and family, a nice card and gift from my boss. :) Not alot of money for a gift from dh, but that's ok- he'll make it up to me at some point. Overall it was a good day. David couldn't understand why I didn't bring a party home from work with me- he thought I forgot my birthday! I told him we'd celebrate when Grandma and PaPa got here. :)  That's about it for today- better go to bed- back to work tomorrow.
