Sense and Sensibility finished!

Happy dance!! I finished it up last night.  I love the way it turned out!  I need to email my dad and give him the dimensions so he can make me a frame. :) I had a hard time getting a good picture of the whole thing, so I took one, and some closeups of the different little details.. (it was stitched on Summer Khaki belfast linen-32 ct, with recommended threads.)

The pictures are a little dark -sorry!  I am still deciding what to work on next- it's a toss up between another Jane Austen pattern I just ordered or LHN's "Beach Cottage" (I think that's the name..) I'm in the mood to do something summery.  David wants me to stitch him "Percy" from Thomas and Friends- I am putting it off for a little bit cause I'm not looking forward to stitching all that green. :P I need to catch up on my Stitcher's Alphabet too- I am still working on E- and there is that snowman I put aside that I need to finish too. So many options!
I came across this picture- I took it the night of David's graduation, it's a good signing off picture. :)

The Night Before (New Orleans, #3) (Savannah, #1) The Night Before by Lisa Jackson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think this is the first Lisa Jackson book I've read. I really enjoyed it although Caitlyn, the main character, got my nerves a little, especially at first. It really kept me guessing as to "whodunit", which I like. So many books I can figure it out long before the end, but in this book I was actually surprised. A great book that kept you guessing!

A S&S update, a favorite piece, and my baby's preschool graduation!

Little Man graduated from preschool tonight! I am a proud mommy. :)
It was hard to get good pictures of him cause they had him in the back row! Tried to get a good pic of him processing out afterward- this is what I got-

Oh well.. I tried.
Here is the latest on Sense and Sensibility, I am really hoping to finish it this week!
And maybe I am tooting my own horn, I don't know.. but I really love this piece and I realized the other day the original picture I posted of it on my blog years ago was not very good, so I took some better ones. It's Christ in Gethsemane- I think it was a Leisure Arts leaflet. It took forever to finish but it was so worth it.

OK, this one is a bit blurry, but here are some better ones..

I worked on Little Christmas, but all I have to show for it is more border, so I'll post more of that when I've got a bit more done-I'm going to try to get a few stitches in "E" tonight- it's been taking me forever to finish it! So I guess I better go, as it's getting late..

Snickerdoodle anyone?

Welll... the kids and I made these tonight!   I love snickerdoodles because not only are they delicious but the ingredients are always in  your cupboard! Well except cream of tartar.. we were out of that.. but a recipe online is almost identical to Better Homes and Gardens but doesn't have the cream of tartar, so we figured it could be done. (PLEASE NOTE:  I have had requests for the recipe- I will post it later but really all we did is use the recipe out of the Better Homes and Gardens cook book-the checkered one- just without the cream of tartar.) The house smelled of cinnamon for a while- it smelled like Christmas!  Hanna and I tried to keep David out of the kitchen as long as possible, because he's always sticking his fingers in things, etc.  But finally he did figure us out.. and he was pretty good-

although by the look on Hanna's face you see she was telling him to do something.  I can't remember what it was.
Please ignore the mess in the background, and our old ratty cabinets. We rent so we have no control over that! lol

And just when you thought my New Bern pics were finished- I remember I saved a few that mom took too.
Here are Hanna and I-

Hanna looking for seashells-

A nice little garden by one of the shops

The beach at Fort Macon

And me at the fort.. see me?
More stitchy pictures soon- I worked on S&S tonight- finished the box with the cottage in it and the word "sensiblity." Yea me! lol

updates and more..

I really need to make time to blog more, I miss it!!  I realized today I never posted the Mother's Day gift I was working on during jury duty.. I really thought I did!!

As you can see I have yet to "finish" it-hopefully soon.. (pattern for this is available free at http://www.cross-stitching.com/.)
I worked a bit on my border for "Little Christmas" tonight-here is how that is coming along-

I almost forgot about the TUSAL! So here is that as well. :)

I didn't realize when I took that picture it was so crooked! lol
I am still plugging away on the E of Stitcher's Alphabet and my S&S Sampler- I will post updates on those later this week. :)
I never finished my picture tour from when Mom and Dad were here- let's see what I haven't shown you yet. :)
Here's one of little man at the beach..

Here's my mom and David, and some people in period costumes at Fort Macon.

I took this one inside the fort-it was really cool. On the outside were all these doors that looked like separate rooms, then when you go into them, there is this hallway that connects them all in the back of each room. Looking down the hall makes for a neat picture. :)

The view from the top of the fort, which by the way is a bit nerve-wracking to walk on,esp. with kids, as there is not railing to keep you from falling down into the center of the fort!

My little ham, I mean man, again. :)

The sunset on the way home- I couldn't get a very good shot unfortunately!
I think that's about it for now.. I will try to be better about posting more often! :)

Sorry it's taken me so long!!!

Life has been getting in the way of blogging- Mother's Day weekend was nice, we didn't do much but I was thankful to just stay home and relax.. I knew ahead of time we weren't going out or anything, not that we didn't want to, just that money is tight right now- but Rob and the kids gave me sweet cards and I spent most of the day relaxing and stitching and reading. :)
Now for some stitchy updates- I have had jury service this week so I have had plenty of time to stitch and read some more! lol I have been working on my grandma's Mother Day present- the one I didn't show you yet- here it is so far(I hope she doesn't see it!)-
Here is the latest on Sense & Sensibility-

I didn't take a picture of "E" because I haven't made much progress- right now it's just a blob of white!
I can't decide what to work on tonight.. technically it's my night to work on S&S, but given my lack of progress on E, I'm wondering if I should work on that..

And here is the other Grandma piece- finished.. was going to wait til I had made it into something to post, but it may be delayed due to the aforementioned lack of funds..I'm glad my grandmas are patient ladies! lol  I want to go by the quilt shop to find some pretty fabric to make this into a little flatfold.
The library book sale was two weekends ago- those things are so addicting- between Hanna and I I think we got 35 paperbacks, and a few other books.. then I went back the Monday after and picked up 5 more that were left over from the sale.  I was surprised at the amount of books left this year! Probably people still had lots of books left from the last sale- I know I did but it didn't stop me. lol You can't beat 5 books for 1.00! Of course David got some too- I took him on Sunday and let him pick a few as well.  Well, I better go if I'm going to get any stitching done!! Hope the rest of your week is great! I will try to check in more often.

a few more pics..

I will have a stitchy post soon- I promise!! I am taking a break from the New Bern/Fort Macon pics to share with you some from my own backyard!! We have some wonderful wild honeysuckle growing behind our building and the neighboring building- it smells so sweet you can smell it out in front of the house too!
I'm not sure what the little flowers growing with it are, but they smell good too-

Rob put a strawberry plant in the planter with our flowers on our back patio and they are starting to blossom too!

and here's a photo of some of the others, you've seen them before, just at a different angle. :)

Maybe I will post my progress on Sense and Sensibility later... :)
