another Saturday...

Stayed at home for the most part and it was nice.. got some things done around the house, not much stitching yet. I did watch "Raising Helen" which I thought was such a sweet movie!! A tearjerker in parts.
But despite the not-so-good reviews I read about it, I thought it was really good.
Not sure what we're going to watch tonight, either "Cinderella Story" or "The Day After Tomorrow."
Oh well.. off to work on Dad's Christmas gift and eat some cherry pie.

getting on my soapbox..

Wow. today at work my boss was listening to Rush Limbaugh and Rush was playing sound bites from Katie Couric's special on teens and sex. What a bunch of dingbats I did hear. These girls were saying they or they're "friends" give guys oral sex as an excuse not to have actual intercourse. HELLO. If a guy is going to dump you because you won't give him any he IS NOT WORTH IT. DUH. I speak from experience, because even though I may be telling too much about myself. I did not have sex in high school. And it was not because I didn't date any guys who didn't want it from me. I told them up front I wouldn't and if they didn't like it they could go. No hard feelings. I am saddened to hear that the self-esteem of girls is so low today that they feel they have to put out to keep a boyfriend. I hope I can raise Hanna, and our soon-to-be born son for that matter, better than that. What I heard to day made me sad and also scared me a bit. Someone needs to knock some sense into those girls. OK I will get down of my soapbox now. Just had to vent.
The day was fairly uneventful.. still doing some catching up at work but am making progress. Didn't get any stitching done today so far. At lunch I had an Avon order to deliver and took the stuffed animals to the hospital for the kids that visit. Also made a trip to the bank. Came home, made dinner, and get this - dh actually complimented my cooking!!! I know that sounds so silly but he is the better cook of the two of us by far, and he never insults my cooking but I know it's not the greatest. And tonight he told me more than once that it was really good. From him that is a big compliment cause he knows his way around a kitchen.
Well I better get off of here. Laundry and stitching calls!

LK flip it as of 1-26-05 Posted by Hello

Like the new look?

After I edited a post tonight my sidebar disappeared on my old pink template, and no matter what I did it wouldn't come back..so I changed my template and found that the blogger preview isn't working right, at least not for me, so everytime I made a change I had to republish my blog to make sure it was in the right place.
ARRRGH. It's been one of those days.

Halfway to Friday-

Today was ok but seemed to go on forever. I was so tired today. I watched "Walking Tall" with the Rock last night which was actually pretty good! Cool that the guy became sherriff so he could kick anyone's but he wanted. LOL I want to look up the real guy on the internet, I keep forgetting to.
Got a little more done on Dad's Christmas gift, I'm still shooting to have it done by the end of the month! We are going to Raleigh on Sunday I think so hopefully I'll get some stitching done in the car. I worked on my L*K flip it at lunch today- got a 2nd block almost done and then I'll just have the "luck" block. :-) Maybe I will post a pic later.

How much do you believe on the internet??

Monday

Looks like unkymoods is gone again. Wah. :-(

This past weekend was a movie weekend, we got coupons from Hollywood Video just in time for the weekend. Great timing. :-) So far I've watched "Without a Paddle" , which was better than I thought it would be, "The Forgotten" which was very good, and "Laws of Attraction" which was so cute! Tonight I am going to watch "The Stepford Wives." CSI:Miami is a rerun so that works out good.
I finally got the movie I won on ebay, they had told me it was mailed on the 4th and the postage label said Jan. 20, so I have emailed them and asked them about it, we'll see what they say. At least the movie was new like they said, still wrapped with the security stickers on it and everything.
I found a good home for Hanna's and my stuffed animals, the hospital will take them. They can't take anything but new ones for the children's ward but they do keep gently used ones to give to kids who might be visiting someone at the hospital and are upset, or something like that. That's cool. :-) I'm glad they will cheer someone up!
Not much else going on, I am hoping to have my Dad's Christmas present finished by the end of the week, I got quite a bit done on it at lunch today. I am going to work on either my L*K flip it or my ornament tonight.. not sure which, we'll see where my mood takes me when I get ready to stitch. :-)

Something to think about

I did get some things done today tho, went thru Hanna's stuffed animals(and mine) to get rid of some, got the box down so Rob can put the Christmas tree away(finally!), put some stash away, got my camera set up to work with the new computer.. so at least I got some things done I've been meaning to do! now to go work on the pic for my dad.. I really would like to get it mostly done this weekend.

No snow

I knew we wouldn't get any.. sigh.... and I was hoping for a snow day. All we got was rain.
Got a little stitching done last night on my Bent Creek "Noel" ornament, but not much, got to watching "Hush" and it'd been so long since I'd seen it I was on the edge of my seat. LOL Didn't help that the main character is pregnant. hee
Well better get off to work, got to go get ready!

feeling a little better..

Work was ok, actually feel like I accomplished something today so that's good. And I got some stash in the mail when I got home, my order from DSL was here. :-) So tonight I get to put my new threads away. I love doing that! LOL I am very aggravated a movie I won on ebay was not in the mail. It will be 3 weeks since they sent it tomorrow. As far as I know they are in the US so it shouldn't take this long, especially after the holiday mail rush is over. They said they mailed it on the 4th. You can bet I'm checking the postmark date. It wouldn't burn me so bad but the shipping was kind of high, esp. when they could send it media rate. Grrrrrrr

Worn out

Maybe it's the weather, I don't know, but I feel like crawling back into bed and going back to sleep. I just feel drained. I need a day off and all to myself. Unfortunately my boss has a dentist appt. today so I have to be at work. I'm just pooped. Lately I feel like I am just running around in circles. Last night by the time I got Hanna to bed and sat down to stitch I stitched a couple of rows and started dozing off- it's so frustrating that lately the one thing I love to do I am too tired to do, and there are so many things I want to stitch!
On the up side, I got my books from my Harlequin suspense book club yesterday, two by Heather Graham and one by Rachel Lee. I have never read either author so I am looking forward to reading them once I finish the one I am reading now.
Oh well, better go get ready for work.

Busy yesterday

I got some cleaning done and started cleaning out Hanna's old baby things.. won't need most of them with a baby boy coming! I am giving all the girl stuff to a friend of mine who is due right before me.. then if we have a girl instead of the boy we're think we're having she said she will give it back. LOL
Watched "Double Jeopardy" yesterday- I love that movie. I found the DVD for 5.99 at Best Buy after Christmas! I was so excited.
Not much planned for today, have got church then have to go to Walmart. :-P Then hopefully I can finish cleaning out the baby stuff. And hopefully I will get some stitching time in.. didn't get much yesterday!

Lesson of the day..

Wear a coat when it's raining even if it's warm outside. I speak from experience. This morning I was running late to get Hanna to school, so I walked her to the school gate w/my umbrella(she had a raincoat on) and was going to wait there and watch her til she got to her classroom(the door is outside.) Well the wind was blowing and it was pouring rain, so I thought I would walk to the car and watch her from in the car. Mind you I did NOT wear a jacket. So I am walking and a huge gust of wind blows my cheap umbrella inside out, I can't get it back down and I got soaking wet. I had to go home and change before work I was so wet. I think I will also invest in a better umbrella. :-P
Other than that today was ok..a lady visited us at work today that might be working with us part-time. I hope so as it will alleviate some of my worries for while I am out on maternity leave. She seems really nice.
I had been craving sushi again so I got some sushi take out for lunch, it was delish.. but next time I will ask for light ice in my drink, they filled it full of ice and there was hardly any Coke in there!! I hate that.
Dh has to work this weekend, I have plans to get things done around the house but we'll see how that goes. I need to go thru Hanna's old things still to see what I can keep for the baby and what I need to get rid of. We need all the room we can get. Well I am going to go stitch now, haven't gotten hardly any stitching in all day!

A 2-day finish! A dear friend, Petra, designed this one.. I used Charizma fabric by Silkweavers and mostly Six Strand Sweets for the colors, except the grey which is DMC. I shouldn't be posting this cause I am going to give it to someone, but oh well, maybe she won't read this. LOL Posted by Hello

blah.....

What's up with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston breaking up? It is so sad. Usually I don't care about celeb couples but I really liked them together. :-( I hope they work things out.
Speaking of Mr. P, watched "Troy" the other night.. what a hottie. I think he should keep his hair long all the time. Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana weren't hard to look at either! I did keep falling asleep tho, I was so tired. The battel scenes kind of bored me unless it was two people one on one. I don't know why cause the battle scenes in LOTR didn't bore me. Maybe cause I was more emotionally attached to the characters.
Kind of a blah night tonight, dh stayed home and took a vacation day, I was looking forward to a night of family fun like playing the Scooby game or something but he's watching an old movie on TV, Hanna is upstairs watching TV in our room, and I just finished a ton of dishes and I guess will stitch when I am done on the computer. So much for quality family time. My feet and legs hurt so I think the dishes are the only housework I'm doing tonight. My ankles are getting swollen. :-(
I had all these things I was going to blog about once I got on here that I thought of at work, now that I'm home I can't think of anything!
We are getting an Asian bistro down the street from my job, I'm curious to see what it's going to be like. I hope it's good, I could use a good Asian place closeby. Unfortunately they took away a really good cheesesteak place to put it in. Fortunately there are several other locations of that cheesesteak chain in town. :-) But that one was in walking distance from work which was nice.
I am finally making progress on my dad's very late Christmas gift, got some done at lunch today. I think I am going to work on my flip-it tonight.
Well that's about it here.. sorry so depressing! Must be having a mood swing. TTFN!

a somewhat lazy Saturday yesterday..

I did get some laundry done(which reminds me I need to put a load in the dryer), Hanna and I went for a walk since it was so nice outside. Actually she rode her bike and I walked. Went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner, was pretty good, we hadn't been there for a while. Then we watched "Little Black Book", which was good, a lot of funny parts, but not the ending I expected. I was a little disappointed but I guess their ending was more realistic than the usual. I think we are watching "Troy" tonight. I can handle a couple of hours of Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. :-) I have to go after church today to pick up some floss bags and groceries at Walmart. Otherwise not many plans for today. Hopefully I can finish the laundry and start going thru Hanna's closet, which I never did yesterday. I also have to get the box for the Christmas tree out so dh can put it away.. and such is my exciting life... lol

Happy Epiphany!

Went to church tonight for Epiphany, what I heard of it was good but Hanna wouldn't be quiet. It was very frustrating. Then I got home to find the dog had gone thru every trash can he could get to, why I don't know because there wasn't any "food trash" in any of them. Then he had the nerve to snarl at me when I reprimanded him. If we had a doghouse he would be in it.
On the good side, had some time to kill after dinner and before church, so Hanna and I went to Michael's, I thought I'd see what was left of the Christmas clearance. Not much. But I was excited because I needed a new craft light and they had them on clearance for half off!! Yippee cause I still have batteries and bulbs from my old one that shorted out. This one I will keep the warranty info and receipt, if there is a warranty. Otherwise nothing new here.. work was somewhat slower so I got a little more done today, which was nice. Tomorrow will probably be busy since it's Friday, but it least it will be Friday!!! Dh has to work all weekend so I am hopefully going to go thru some of Hanna's old baby stuff and see what I can keep for her little brother and what I can get rid of. I will keep a few girl things just in case. :-)

Oh no...

I found something else to take me away from my stitching, and his name is Scooby. LOL We got Hanna a Scooby-Doo game for her gamecube the other day and boy is that game addicting. It's one of those games where you have to save people and collect things and fight monsters, etc. I love those kind of games.
Not much else going on here, I have a prenatal appt. today. Hopefully all is well! I feel him kicking around so that's a good sign.
Well I better go get dressed, don't want to be late!

Sunday, January 02, 2005

Haven't been on for a while.. thought I'd update. Friday dh worked an early shift so he was home in the evening, we went grocery shopping and Hanna and I went to church. I was so sleepy I didn't even make it til midnight once I got home. Dh played "james bond" on the game cube til 2:30 am, I doubt even realized when it was midnight, LOL.
Yesterday we went to Raleigh and I was hoping to go to the LNS there but they were closed for the holiday. :-( I was so disappointed as I have a gift certificate for the shop that's burning a hole in my pocket! On the up side we did some other shopping, I got my LOTR desk calendar at half price, got a couple of DVDs really cheap- Little Women(1994) and Double Jepoardy which I have been keeping an eye out for. Finally found it at Best Buy for $5.99! Can't beat that.
As far as stitching, have been plugging away at my dad's very late Christmas gift, I'm finally making some progress! Since I finished the baby gift I was working on I feel more motivated on this one, I guess cause it's not like anything I've ever done before. I have also started the Lizzie Kate flip-it blocks for March of last year, I want to catch up and finish all my L*K flip-its for last year. I need my dad to make me a frame so I can display them on my desk at work. I have a frame here that might work, I just have to check.
Well that's about it here right now, church service time has switched to 11:15 which I was so thankful for, but what difference does it make when Hanna wakes me up between 7 and 7:30 anyway? OH well....
