the right day for some stitching supplies!!

I am so sorry I haven't been blogging much lately- been working feverishly on Christmas gifts, added to the usual day to day stuff.. phew! I have cut back on my computer time somewhat for now.
Today I went to my LNS to pick up some beads and Kreinik braid I needed for a gift I'm working on (thanks so much Michael's for phasing them out so I have to drive 20 min or more to get them! Argh!). But anyway, it was probably a blessing in disguise- I went to my LNS because she always has her Mill Hill beads and Kreinik stocked- also picked up some beading thread... and I wanted to check the price on Butternut Road's "Winter Sampler" cause I really love that pattern. I'd like to start working on it after I'm finished with gifts.. I checked and she asked me how much it was- I said "14.00." And she said "I'll give it to you for half price." I had only brought a certain amount of cash with me but she took checks so I figured out a way to work it all out. :) She also let me know from time to time she has half-off sales on her charts and asked me if she had my phone number. I said no and she passed me her little blue book where I promptly wrote it down! Am hoping to go back soon and take advantage of the sale when I have a bit more money.  "Winter Sampler" is an older pattern but here's a pic if you aren't familiar with it-

The only think I'm not too sure of is the white moth at the time.. to me it doesn't fit.. but I guess there would be nothing to put in it's place so maybe I'll try it, it is kind of pretty, for a bug. lol

Sounds like you got a wonderful deal and worth the drive too. Mu cross stitching store is 45 minutes away so when I am there I had better get everything that I need. Like the new pattern...I think you could just skip the moth and fill it in with the pattern that goes across the top...either way I am sure it will be wonderful. Dianntha

Great deal - love the sampler, but I'm with you. The moth would have to go!

Wow--now that is a wonderful way to keep her customers coming back again and again. I live 35 minutes from my nearest cross stitching store so I usually order stuff online. It's just not the same though, as seeing the fabric and beads and threads in person, is it?

Love your new pattern, Tracey!

Very Pretty design. I go to my LNS a lot, we only have one where I live. Whatever I am looking for she can order it if she doesn't have it. I want here to stay in business

That's a great deal on the chart! It paid to have to travel a bit further. And about the white moth - how about a xmas tree shape or something like that. I like the moth, but don't really know if I'd like it in the pattern.

Hi Tracey, I've always loved that pattern, moth and all. I saw it stitched and it does look like it belongs right there. You got a great deal on it. My lns has one sale a year at Christmas and I usually have to miss it.
But I'm not complaining cause I love my lns!

It surely is a lovely sampler, the colors are magnificent, so rich! Glad you got a good deal on it!

That was a trip worth taking! I love the sampler, that one is new to me even though it's an older design. I know what you mean about the moth but maybe it will look okay when it's stitched. I have to rely totally on the internet for my stitching supplies and you do miss being able to walk into somewhere to browse and shop in person.

Great minds think alike. I stitched this one for my sis for Christmas a couple of years ago and guess what? I left the moth off. Too weird for me. I also stitched it on 32 cnt and of course, had to make substitutions for some of the heavier fibers, but it is gorgeous! Hope you get to work on it soon.

Well that is just wonderful - a chart you are in love with and a great deal on the price.
I wish Michael's still stocked Mill Hill too. I have to order my specialty threads and beads online since there is no store less than 3 hours away.

I love that pattern too, it's very pretty! I agree with you about the moth, maybe you'd just want to change the color a little so it's not so "white".... just a thought :)

Have a wonderful day!

Hey girl, thanks for the lovely comment on my blog...I always love hearing from you. I am almost done with the Winter Wonderland pattern I won from you and will be passing it on to another lucky stitcher soon. I have really enjoyed working on it! Thank you!! I will post snaps when it's complete.

I love that Butternut sampler too...and what a great deal you got!

Your little man is absolutely adorable...he's gonna break a lot of hearts!

Have a great week...until later...

HAPPY STITCHIN'

Love the new stash! Sounds like you got a great deal. IMHO, I prefer to support the independent shops so it's worth it to drive that little bit extra. If the LNSs go out of business, imagine what we'd be left with! Good for you. :)
